A horrific discovery
According to an article by David Lohr for the Huffington Post, the remains of a man (later identified as being Louis Wolfensohn) were found in his home in September of 2016 by a relative, Josette Buchman (pictured here above) who was fetching a few items for the man’s 80-year-old hospitalized mom (Rita Wolfensohn). In the mentioned article, David Lohr states that a spokesperson for the NYPD told the Huffington post that, “She [Buchman] went to the second-floor bedroom and that’s when she noticed a dead body ― completely decomposed skeletal remains ― on the floor.”
A call for help
The article then goes on to state that “The woman [Buchman] notified police and the city medical examiner removed the skeletal remains from the premises.” The article also mentions that authorities estimated that the man (Wolfensohn) passed away in around 2008.
The deceased man (Louis Wolfensohn)
In another article concerning this bizarre case, Myles Miller for Pix11.com wrote that “The deceased man was a former taxi driver who would have turned 51 years old” at the time. A photograph of what Louis Wolfensohn looked like (when he was alive) has never been released to date.
Another shocking revelation…
In the same article (for Pix11.com) Miller went on to state that “He [Louis Wolfensohn] was last seen in 2008 when he was in a car accident. However, a relative told police that his family hadn’t seen him in 20 years.” The above statement makes me wonder why it was that this man (Louis) had been estranged from his family for a staggering 20 years.
The cause of death
Although to this day the cause of death has never been disclosed to the public, all the reports concerning the man’s death at the time revealed that it was believed that he was possibly terminally ill and that he died of natural causes.
The eerie Google Earth images (that reveal more bizarre revelations).
A neighbor, who was reportedly interviewed by ‘The New York Daily News’, stated that the vehicle which belonged to the deceased (a tan colored Ford Explorer) had not been moved at all for quite a few years (at that time). Images on Google Earth also show that the vehicle had definitely not been moved since October 2007.
The reasons as to just why Rita Wolfensohn rather chose to keep her dead son for so many years in the house they shared has never been determined. The New York post did go on to add a post a few days after the initial news broke, stating that according to NYPD sources it was revealed that “The elderly Brooklyn woman found this month living with the skeletal remains of her son is a legally blind hoarder who may not have even known he was there.”
All I know for sure is that this story sure does top the scales as being the weirdest story I have ever come across in my life (well so far at least).
