This year we saw inclusion of AI in a lot of the new flagship devices that got launched. Mainly including Apple and Google, where Apple introduced its A11 Bionic neural engine. While Google came up with Pixel Visual Core. Both of which are catchy name tags, but does way more than just sounding good. Which includes handling processes that are done aside from what the main processor cores are responsible for.
These tasks can include things like visual calculations, processing sensory input or helping HDR+ camera algorithms. Which is an efficient and faster way of doing things, rather than only replying on the processing cores. The recent reports also suggest that Samsung might also be moving on with this new technology. Where we might see a Samsung Exynos chip with a neural engine next year. Because a big giant like Samsung won’t like to be the last to join in on the band wagon. As Samsung just invested a large chunk in a Chinese base AI Company named DeePhi Tech.
The Chinese based company named DeePhi Tech mainly specializes in coming up with deep learning AI algorithms. That can be combined with a neural chip design. Which led us to believe that Samsung might be serious about launching an AI based Exynos chip soon. Where the Samsung Exynos 9810 chip might be one of the first AI chip that Samsung might come up with next year. That is also rumored to be what the Samsung Galaxy S9 will be powered on.
Qualcomm is also giving into neural engine as the company already launched its development kit. That will bring Neural Processing Engine to their line of chips. Whatever the case maybe AI is indeed the future in upcoming chips. Where we might see it get included in every other chip, including entry level chips. Because combined with AI even a low end chip can perform much better than you would expect.
